A day in the life working in Stratford
If you’re looking for a new workplace outside of central London, you might have already heard that some of the top tech, arts and educational institutions are all moving east. With UCL, the V&A and BBC Music opening at East Bank over the next few years, you might be wondering what else the area has to offer. So, is Stratford a good place to work? We take you through what a typical work day might look like if you’re based at IQL Stratford.
Rise and shine! The alarm goes off and it’s time to hit the gym. Visit the Copper Box Arena to try a yoga class, take a swim at the London Aquatics Centre, or simply go for a jog (or a walk!) around one of the many parks in Stratford. After working up a sweat, head over to use the facilities at 2 Redman Place to freshen up before heading to the office.
On your way to the many workspaces available at IQL, pick up a breakfast to set you up for the day. Try Signorelli for a pastry and a signature blend coffee, or Pret a Manger for a quick bacon roll and up to five hot drinks a day using the Pret subscription service. Haugen also has a delicious deli menu, offering everything from Eggs Benedict to sweet or savoury crepes.
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is right on IQL’s doorstep, meaning it’s the perfect place to take a client out for an outdoor meeting. The beautiful green scenery is the perfect setting to do your work while getting your steps up. Or if the weather has taken a turn but you still want the fresh air, visit the Living Room, a sheltered outdoor co-working space perfect for focused solo work or group meetings. These new workplace ideas are how IQL earned its name as Stratford’s Innovation District.
Now it’s lunchtime, and you’re feeling a little peckish. Why not visit Haugen for some Alpine inspired cuisine, and take in the spectacular view of Stratford from the rooftop terrace? Or, to save some money, bring a packed lunch and visit one of the social areas situated in all IQL’s workspace buildings to chat with your co-workers.
After a productive day at work, you’ve arranged to meet up with some friends. With so many options, it can be overwhelming to choose where to go! Luckily for you, we’ve put together a list of the best places to eat in Stratford.
Once you’ve eaten your fill, you fancy heading out for a few drinks. No matter your drink of choice, there’s something for everyone in the bars in Stratford. Why not pay a visit to IQL’s newest addition Outpost for some after work food and drinks? With a menu featuring pizzas, sweet treats, and cocktails such as a Bellini or an Aperol Spritz, Outpost is bringing a taste of Italy to IQL.
