Best places to eat in Stratford

East London is a treasure trove of green spaces, great cafes, restaurants, shopping, leisure facilities and live events. So, to keep you fed and watered on a wonderful day out east, here’s a break down of the best places to eat in Stratford, for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Breakfast

Signorelli
15 Endeavour Square, E20 1JN

Based right here at IQL, Signorelli’s bakery and deli is a firm favourite of those living and working in Stratford or the East Village.

This family business serves up freshly baked sandwiches, patisserie and home-baking, including a variety of freshly baked bread. The coffee is great, the setting is casual but stylish, and the service is impeccable.

Keep an eye out for seasonal specials and be sure to peruse the drinks menu with care – the iced Nutella mocha is a deliciously sweet end to your meal.

Balans East
Ground floor, 123 The Street, E20 1EN

Based next door at Westfield, Balans was a Soho staple in the late 1980s and is now a trendy chain offering all day brunch, small plates and great drinks late into the night.

The draw here? The cool atmosphere and an abundance of great brunch items: breakfast burritos, omelettes, steak and eggs, lobster benedict with exotic add-ons like halloumi, chorizo, pancakes and crispy potatoes.

We recommend the Eggs in Hell, two poached farm eggs in a spicy tomato sauce served with the crispy potatoes and parmesan cheese. All washed down with a litre of coffee, of course!

Lunch

Tonkotsu
Unit 1 Endeavour Square, E20 1JN

Real ramen, prepared in traditional ways – that’s what great about Tonkotsu. Located on Endeavour Square, and a short walk from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this restaurant is a great lunch option.

From 12pm – 5pm, Monday to Friday, you can enjoy the lunch deal which gives you a ramen or hiyashi and a side – and the sides are where it’s at. For those who don’t know, gyoza are fried or steamed savoury dumplings, made with a range of fillings. With the lunch deal, choose from pork, ginger and garlic or shitake mushroom and bamboo shoots!

Haugen
9 Endeavour Square, E20 1JN

Arguably becoming one of the best places to eat in Stratford, Haugen is an alpine inspired restaurant and bar spread over 3 floors, including a spectacular roof terrace. Serving everything from breakfast to dinner and late-night drinks and nibbles – you can visit Haugen for any meal. That said, with the warmer afternoons right now, we think lunchtime is the perfect time to visit!

Choose from schnitzel, raclette, fondues, wurst and various other European delights. But be sure to save space for dessert – it’s spectacular!

Dinner

Figo
17 Endeavour Square

Figo is a quality family restaurant at the heart of Stratford. Inspired by authentic Italian cuisine, you can expect traditional fare, using fresh ingredients and flavours from across Italy.

At the heart of the restaurant is an open kitchen and wood-fired oven, filling the space with warmth and delicious aromas of the cucina Italiana! The rustic but stylish atmosphere with dangling lights and old-fashioned hospitality will transport you to the coast of Amalfi or the streets of Florence in no time at all.

Covering pasta, risotto, pizza, salads and small plates – everything is beautifully prepared and presented and will keep customers of all ages happy and well fed!

Allegra
20 International Way, E20 1FD

If you’re in search of romantic restaurants in Stratford for a special occasion, look no further than Allegra.

Offering a high-end dining experience paired with old-fashioned hospitality, Allegra is a sophisticated restaurant with exceptional taste. Based within the Stratford Hotel, Allegra’s glass walled restaurant and outdoor terrace bring you views across the London skyline, and the opportunity to dine al fresco.

Within the indoor restaurant there is a glass-encased wine room, where customers are encouraged to walk in, taste and choose the wine to accompany their meal, with a little help from the experts. Each month, the “chef’s selection” features dishes using seasonal ingredients; while on Wednesdays, there is a tasting menu which changes from week to week.

One of the best places to eat in Stratford if you’re marking a special occasion, without a doubt.
