Stratford Summer Screen takes over International Quarter London

The very latest blockbuster movies, live opera and sporting events are all set to be screened outdoors and free of charge this summer at International Quarter London (IQL).

A packed programme of free events and activities for all ages has been put together for Stratford Summer Screen, which is the latest in a series of cultural events organised by IQL, the new neighbourhood destination and business district located next to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Stratford Summer Screen will take over The Spark and Endeavour Square for several weeks. The programme includes:

  • Outdoor screenings of blockbuster films including The Greatest ShowmanMamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Isle of Dogs, live streaming of Carmen and The Marriage of Figaro at the Royal Opera House, and some of the most anticipated sporting events of the Summer including the ICC Cricket World Cup and The AshesWimbledon, Tour de FranceThe Open (golf) and the US Open (tennis).

     

  • Special Family Fun Days are on 6 July, 17 August and 7 September with big-screen showings of kids’ (and grown-ups’) favourites such as The Lego Movie 2 (7 September) and Early Man (17 August), and a whole day dedicated to Peppa Pig (6 July) with episodes being shown throughout the day and a special guest appearance from Peppa herself. The screenings will be accompanied by themed activities on the day such as Lego building workshops, clay modelling and face painting.

     

  • Three very special Friday evenings will be dedicated to dance and music led by London based ceilidh troupe, Cut a Shine (12 July), swing dancing group Swing Patrol (19 July), and Brixton-based 10-piece brass band Brasstermind (9 August) who will perform everything from funk and soul to afrobeat and grunge.

 

Throughout the summer, visitors to IQL will also be able to enjoy live music and performances from Busk in London, a not-for-profit street performance programme supported by the Mayor of London and managed by Found in Music. For foodies, a range of pop-up street stalls will be on offer as well as the RUMblin mobile cocktail bar and a Prosecco and Peroni van from Salute! Bubbles and Birra.
