Stratford in the Sky Glasshouse Gardens Reach Full Height

  • 25 Nov 2015

This morning, joint venture partners Lendlease and LCR held a topping-out ceremony to celebrate the tallest and final tower at Glasshouse Gardens – two residential towers at Stratford’s The International Quarter - reaching full height. Sir Robin Wales, Mayor of Newham, joined Ian Crockford, Project Director, Lendlease and David Joy, Chief Executive of LCR, to mark the occasion at the top of the West Tower. Located at the gateway to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the West Tower at Glasshouse Gardens now stands at 30 storeys and the milestone means both towers have now reached the highest point of structural works during construction, which began in July 2014.

Together with the adjacent East Tower, the scheme will deliver 333 apartments by summer 2017, with the first apartments due for completion in autumn 2016. When completed, the homes will feature open plan living and kitchen spaces, and will offer residents uninterrupted views of London’s skyline.

Just four one-bedroom apartments remain for sale at Glasshouse Gardens, in the 17-storey East Tower, ranging from £463,000 to £478,000.

Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales said:

“Stratford has seen an unprecedented transformation and this development is another fine example of our ambition to work with partners to bring homes and jobs to Newham. We want every building that goes up here to be of a high quality and the Glasshouse Gardens towers are fine examples.”

Ian Crockford, Lendlease Project Director, said:

“We’re thrilled to reach this important stage in the delivery of these superb new homes, which play a pivotal role in helping create London’s newest and most vibrant business and residential district, The International Quarter.

“Both towers are now at full height and will offer spectacular panoramic views across London, taking in the Aquatics Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and City. With some of the world’s greatest sporting, retail and cultural facilities, residents will have the best of London living on their doorstep. The first apartments will be completed next year, and we’re eagerly looking forward to welcoming the first residents into their homes.”

David Joy, Chief Executive of LCR, said:

“Today brings us one step closer to delivering the first phase of high quality, new homes for The International Quarter, one of London’s prime commercial and residential development areas. Once the towers are complete next year, new residents will be able to enjoy the benefits of living in one of the best connected and exciting locations in the capital – as London’s centre of gravity moves east. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Lendlease to deliver one of the largest urban regeneration projects in the UK, at the very heart of Stratford.”
